Night Embassy coming to Nairobi
Jägermeister’s Night Embassy global platform is making a stop in Kenya with a series of events and cultural activities lined up in the capital Nairobi this November and December.
The platform, which will be officially launched on 1 November, aims to empower artists and collectives to rethink and reshape the city’s nightlife. This will be done through a residency where young artists will get the opportunity to envision their ideas and become an ambassador of the night.
The Night Embassy will take place over five weekends. It will be powered by impressive up-and-coming talent in the pillars of music, dance and fashion, who will be carefully guided by a creative board composed of local cultural icons.
The board is made up of DJ, artist and producer Blinky Bill, fashion designer Katungulu Mwendwa and The Dance Shagz CEO Chiki Kuruka.
“I’ve always been involved in whoever is next on the scene and Nairobi is always bursting with fresh talent,” Blinky Bill said. “I’m super excited to share what I’ve learnt over the years with the next generation. Jägermeister has chosen the perfect time to champion this movement.”
Nairobi will be Night Embassy’s eighth global destination after it was launched in Berlin in 2019. The initiative has already been to cities like Tokyo, London, Bogota, Johannesburg, São Paulo and Moscow.
Night Embassy Nairobi’s theme will be Nairada – a portmanteau for Nai (short for Nairobi) and rada (slang for ‘being alert’).
“As the day’s grind comes to an end, night calls upon us and Nairada, our sanctuary and creative haven, unleashes the spirit of our city and its unique offerings in talent and culture,” Night Embassy said.
