Boomplay inks deal with Orange Côte d'Ivoire
Africa-facing music streaming and download platform Boomplay has partnered with telecommunications giant Orange Côte d'Ivoire, to make music streaming and download more accessible and affordable for customers in Ivory Coast.
The partnership, which follows similar arrangements between the digital streaming platform (DSP) and a number of telcos in Ghana, Nigeria and Tanzania, introduces the ‘Orange Côte d'Ivoire × Boomplay Subscription Plans’ which offer subscribers the option to purchase daily, weekly and monthly subscriptions.
The deal offers users access to over 110 million songs, an advert-free streaming experience and unlimited download of songs. Users can purchase any subscription plans that suit their lifestyle on the Boomplay app or via Orange airtime and then manage their subscription using USSD short code *404#.
Regarding the partnership, the DSP’s public relations manager Paul Azumah-Ayitey, said: “Boomplay is constantly looking for avenues to advance the streaming culture in Africa while empowering the African music ecosystem to unlock its potential.
“With this collaboration with Orange Côte d'Ivoire, we are making accessible and affordable our catalogue of over 110 million songs to subscribers in Ivory Coast for streaming. We couldn’t be more excited about this partnership and its potential to boost the revenue of Ivorian artists on Boomplay and consequently impact the local music industry.”
On its part, Orange Côte d'Ivoire views this partnership as its support to the thriving local music industry while ensuring it provides customers with the best entertainment offerings to enhance their quality of life.
Boomplay has made significant investments in the development and growth of the local music industries in the regions of its operations. Through strategic partnerships, stakeholder relations, artist support programmes and music promotion initiatives which prioritise African artists and music, the streamer claims to be an important enabler within the African music ecosystem.
Earlier this year, the DSP launched a partnership with global short-form video hosting service TikTok to explore cross-promotion of trending content on both platforms via mutual playlists and content discovery.
