St Singhateh is again big winner at Gambian awards

The artist, who is also known as Brikama Boyo, or ST, took three awards, the same number he won last year. He was crowned Artist of the Year and Rap/Hip hop Artist of the Year. He also won in the Video of the Year category for his video for 'Mandinka Warrior'.

Following his victory, he took to Facebook to share the news. “I will never stop thanking and appreciating you all," he wrote. "Thank you all for your encouragement and support. Special appreciation to Yassally Njie and her team, sponsors and all collaborators.

“I would also like to congratulate all the nominees. Respect to Nobles, Gee and Lil Omz for celebrating with me on stage during the award ceremony. I appreciate all the good gestures from my fellow artists”.

The night also saw Royal Messenjah win the Reggae Artist of the Year Award. “Thanks to everybody that voted for me, especially The Griots, my team," he wrote on Facebook. "And a special thanks to Yasally Njie Colley, Balcklynx and all the fans of Royal Messenjah".

Other winners on the night include Dougie and Gee. The former won the Best Producer Award and the latter won the Best Album Award. 

The winner of the Afro-fusion award, Nobles, expressed their gratitude on social media, saying: “Thank you for all for the love and support. We’re so thankful, Gambia. These awards are dedicated to Nema Kunku and to all the beautiful people that supported Nobles throughout this journey. Y’all made this possible”.
