Uganda: DelaCosta talent search launched
A talent search in Uganda with the promise of a recording deal has been launched by DelaCosta Kingdom record label.
The DelaCosta talent search was launched yesterday in Kampala and is set to commence in the first week of April.
Speaking to Music In Africa, the record label’s publicist Godfrey Newsmaker said, “This talent search will create a platform for yet to be discovered raw singing talent from across the country. Those selected will not only achieve stardom but also get exposed to the major music industry players for mentorship purposes.”
A panel of experts from the music and television industry will travel to different regions of the country to seek out the most talented young musicians, who will then be equipped with the right skills and basic knowledge so as to understand how to enter into music business deals.
“We are investing in the future of our music industry and want to change the lives of the young talented artistes,” said Newsmaker. “Five winners will be selected from each region after which they will be enrolled into our academy in Kampala where they be trained on how to handle media, stage performance, song writing among others in order assist them sustain their singing careers.”
According to Newsmaker, there's lots of creative young people in Uganda but lack of proper infrastructure has forced many to halt their dream. “DelaCosta Kingdom wishes to see more Ugandan artists recognised not only nationally but also internationally,” he said.
For forms, interested musicians should visit the DelaCosta Kingdom’s offices at University Plaza, Kampala or send details to +254 704 680 894. Registration is free.
