Inkabi Zezwe donate to SA school
South African music duo Inkabi Zezwe, comprising Big Zulu and Sjava, and the Hollywood Foundation donated school shoes and stationery to Myendane Primary School in uThukela District Municipality in South Africa on 12 February.
The donation, which was captured in a video that is available on Instagram, is part of a broader campaign dedicated to providing necessary supplies to schools throughout the country.
“Today was a great day, we are here to give out stationery and school shoes, which is a pervasive problem among kids back in my community where we are also from,” Sjava said.
Myendane Primary School principal Simangele Makhaza said: “We are grateful for Inkabi Zezwe and the Hollywood Foundation’s contribution, particularly for our children coming from disadvantaged communities marked by high unemployment rates.”
The Hollywood Foundation’s Vuyisile Ngobese said the initiative would “significantly impact the daily schooling experiences of these learners, many of whom attend school without proper shoes or stationery.”
The charitable endeavour coincides with the release of Inkabi Zezwe’s latest single ‘Khaya lami’, which is off their 2023 Ukhamba album. On the song, the duo reflects on the notion of appreciating one’s roots.
Warner Music Africa’s Sakhile Ntshangase said: “It is important for young kids to see successful artists who grew up in the same circumstances as them and be inspired. We hope they look up to Inkabi Zezwe and see how much more the world has for them beyond their physical circumstances.”
