Nigeria: DJ Voyst shares One Cup single
Nigerian DJ Voyst has released his new single titled ‘One Cup’, which is available for streaming and download on all major digital platforms.
The song features fast-rising Afrobeats talent Oberz, and speaks to themes surrounding romantic relationships. It follows other recent offerings like ‘Overload’ and ‘Based on Analysis’.
“On ‘One Cup’, DJ Voyst lends the resonating vocal dexterity of Oberz to create a seamless mid-tempo groovy amapiano record,” a statement reads. “The song provides freshness to the present state of the sonic landscape of the Nigerian music industry, coyly crafting amapiano with contemporary Afrobeats instrumentals.”
Since the release of his debut single ‘Vaneesa’ featuring Flex B in 2018, DJ Voyst, who is also a producer and sound engineer, has built a reputation as a major industry plug, landing collaborations with the likes of Victony, Oxlade and BNXN, among others. He is also widely praised for working with emerging stars and bridging the gap between talent and opportunity.
DJ Voyst, born Babatunde Oyidi Yusuf and best known as the official DJ for singer Joeboy, started his career as a hype man, before stepping into the role of DJ and curator of sound.
“Beyond his knack for collaboration, DJ Voyst continues to push boundaries one release at a time, further solidifying his reputation as a tastemaker in the Nigerian music scene,” the statement adds. “His eclectic style and infectious energy behind the decks continue to earn him a dedicated following and acclaim from industry insiders and music lovers alike.”
