Burna Boy and Rema shine at iHeartRadio Music Awards 2024

Now in its 12th year, the scheme celebrates artists and songs that dominated iHeartRadio stations and the app in 2023 while offering a preview of anticipated hits for 2024.

Burna Boy claimed the Best African Music Act accolade, emerging victorious over other popstars from the continent, including fellow Nigerians Rema, Tems and Wizkid, as well as South Africa’s Tyla.

Rema, who entered this year’s awards as the most nominated act from the continent with three nominations, secured victory in a single category: Collaboration of the Year for his global hit single ‘Calm Down’, featuring Selena Gomez.

Meanwhile, American R&B singer SZA emerged as the night’s biggest winner, scoring wins in multiple categories including Song of the Year and R&B Artist of the Year.

“Our iHeartRadio Music Awards are special because they’re truly reflective of what listeners love,” iHeart Media chief programming officer Tom Poleman said ahead of the awards. “We’re excited to share the journey on how they became the biggest songs and celebrate these amazing artists.”
