Open call: REMA music showcases in Burkina Faso
African musicians are invited to apply to perform at the 2024 edition of the African Music Meetings (REMA) music conference in Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso, from 17 to 26 October.
REMA is one of the most important gatherings for music industry professionals in West Africa. Since 2018, the annual event has brought together artists, music promoters, festival directors, media experts, producers, record label owners and distribution company representatives to exchange ideas about the African music industry.
The 2024 edition will be held under the theme, Emerging Creative and Economic AfroDigital.
Musicians exploring the following music styles can apply:
- Traditional
- Fusion
- Soul
- Afropop
- Hip hop
- Reggae
- Electro
- Jazz
Conditions
Interested musicians should apply with the following:
- Profile/biography.
- Internet links to performances (at least three).
- Three high-resolution promotional photos.
Note: Artists from outside the region are generally required to find travel sponsors.
REMA will provide the following:
- Modest fees for performance commissions.
- Accommodation and meals.
- All local transport related to the show.
- Refund of visa fees upon presentation of receipts.
- Refund of COVID-19 testing fees, if required for travel, upon presentation of receipts.
- Full access to all event activities, including panels, workshops, keynotes and speed meeting sessions.

Selection process
- Eligible applications will be reviewed by the selection committee.
- Selected candidates will be informed no later than August 2024.
- Unsuccessful candidates will not be notified.
- Only applications submitted through the dedicated online form will be considered.
- Only complete applications will be considered.
- Late applications will not be considered.
