Digital Lab Africa announces winners
Digital Lab Africa (DLA) has released a list of 10 winners who applied for this year's edition of the organisation's accelerator programme. The programme is intended for artists, producers, designers, start-ups and students in the media and creative industries in sub-Saharan region.
The winners will each receive:
- €3 000 ($3 600) cash prize.
- Tailor-made incubation programme to accelerate their project development with two mentors from the French and sub-Saharan creative industries (producers, distributors, broadcasters, experts and artists).
- A residence period in France within a digital cluster/hub and participation in industry events in France and/or sub-Saharan Africa.
“After viewing all the video pitch on vote.digilabafrica.com and interviewing the 30 finalists, the selection committees members have selected the 10 winning projects of DLA’s second edition,” the DLA said.
“Among more than 730 applications, 10 applicants (five women and five men) from South Africa, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Ethiopia and Kenya stood out for their talent, their creativity and their ability to defend their ideas.”

- Dimbit – Feben Elias (Ethiopia)
- Nwavu, the Blind Man – João Graça (Mozambique)
Video Game
- Shadow Tongue – Alex Robert Ynclan and Thuso Terence Sibisi (South Africa)
- Project Lumpa – Mwaaba Alec Mugala (Zambia)
Virtual Reality
- Last Night a Haircut Saved My Life’ – Roxanne Dalton (South Africa)
- II Worlds – Naomi van Niekerk and Arnaud van Vliet’ (South Africa)
Web Creation
