Call for applications: Human rights composition

Applicants need to be 8 years or older and scores should be sent to controcanto@donneinmusica.org with the subject line 'GWIM4HumanRights'. The deadline for applications is 30 June.

Requirements

All composers should:

• Submit works in any musical idiom or genre (contemporary, classical, traditional, popular, jazz, etc).
• Lyrics, where applicable, must be accompanied by an English language translation.
• Music must be written in traditional notation.
• Works submitted may be new or previously performed (PDF format).
• Do not send recordings.
• Each composer may send only one (1) score.
• The duration of the work should not be more than six (6) minutes
• Please include in a word file (Times New Roman 12) a 10-line CV with nationality, date and place of birth, residence and email address.
• Applicants younger than 18 must include a signed letter from their family, school or teacher authorising the participation and confirming that this is the composer’s own original work.

Categories for submissions

• Solo instrument.
• Solo voice with one to four instruments.
• Choir SATB (soprano, alto, tenor, bass) with or without piano.
• Group/ensemble of eight to 12 instruments.

Founded in 1978 by British mezzo-soprano Patricia Adkins Chiti, FACDIM is an international non-profit foundation that promotes and mainstreams music by female composers, songwriters and music creators of all ages and nationalities working in all genres. The foundation coordinates a network of more than 27 000 composers, affiliate organisations, performers, pedagogues and musicologists in 113 countries.
