Nigeria: Young Jonn announces North America tour
Nigerian Afrobeats singer and producer Young Jonn is set to tour North America to promote his debut album Jiggy Forever in September.
Produced by Duke Concept, which has helmed tours for the likes of Davido, Burna Boy, Asake, Tiwa Savage and Flavour, the tour will see him make stops in 10 cities across the US and Canada, including Montreal, New York, Chicago, Atlanta, Dallas, Los Angeles, and more from 6 September to 22 September.
The news follows confirmation that Young Jonn will be performing at the Tribeville music festival in Houston on 5 July.
“I’m excited to announce my first North American tour,” Young Jonn said. “I love how my music is reaching people in the US and I can’t wait to see everyone there ‘getting jiggy’.”
Signed to Chocolate City, Young Jonn is among the biggest Nigerian breakout artists from 2022, thanks to his Love Is Not Enough EP series, which birthed popular songs such as the Davido-assisted ‘Dada’ and ‘Xtra Cool’.
Prior to that, he enjoyed acclaim as one of Nigeria’s most sought-after producers in the 2010s, notably due to his work with Afrobeats heavyweights like Olamide, Wizkid, Mr Eazi, Kizz Daniel and Naira Marley, among others.
Released in April, the 16-track Jiggy Forever features fellow Nigerian acts like Kizz Daniel, Seyi Vibez and Blaqbonez, as well as Jamaican dancehall vet Sean Paul. The collection blends elements of Afrobeats, Afropop and amapiano, with a number of the tracks making the Billboard US Afrobeats Songs chart in the first week of its release.
Pre-sale for the Jiggy Forever Tour begins on 26 June, with general on-sale to follow on 28 June here.
