Bio
Maia and the Big Sky is a music band from Nairobi Kenya led by singer, songwriter and composer Maia.
Maia has performed at the Woodford Folk Festival, Perth International Festival (Australia), Sauti Za Busara Festival (Zanzibar). She has shared the stage with artists such as Keziah Jones, James Blunt, Habib Koite, Thandisw, and Mafikizolo. She has toured the US, UK, Australia and East Africa.
She has performed at festivals such as Africa Utopia (UK), HIFA (Zimbabwe), Sauti za Busara (Zanzibar), Kigali Up (Rwanda) and others. Maia has received two African Academy Awards for her song 'Uko Wapi', Judges Award at the Sondeka Awards (2018), Best Female Vocalist in the Up Magazine.
In 2018, she composed music for her first feature film called 'The Letter.'
