Open call: Kumbatia Afrika Peace Festival in Nairobi
African musicians, dancers, filmmakers, spoken word and visual artists are invited to submit applications for the inaugural Kumbatia Afrika Peace Festival (KAPF) set to take place in Nairobi, Kenya, in September 2024.
The festival seeks to embrace Africa through the celebration of culture and art. It aims to bridge borders, build peace and foster a more inclusive Africa, where everyone feels valued, respected and included.
The call is designed for artists who want to build a more peaceful and inclusive Africa.
Eligibility
- Artists must be 18 years or older or have parental/guardian consent if they are underage.
- Submissions are open to both amateurs and professionals.
- Artists from all backgrounds, genders and abilities are encouraged to apply.
- Submissions must align with the festival’s core values as specified above.
- Artists must be primarily from the African continent or African diaspora.
- All submissions must be the original work of the artist and not infringing on any copyrights.
- Promotion and engagement.
Selected artists will:
- Build and connect with a global audience.
- Be featured on KAPF’s website and social media platforms.
- Have media exposure and interview opportunities.
- Be offered a performance fee (As per Kumbatia Afrika’s guidelines).
- Artists may choose to offer their work for sale during the festival.
“We seek art that embodies our core values of cultural empathy and understanding, fun, inclusion, dignity, integrity, unity, shared humanity, celebration of Africa, peace and prosperity,” Kumbatia Afrika Peace Festival said in a statement.
