TransPerfect in South Africa is seeking talented and enthusiastic audio engineers with proficiency in German to join its freelance team working on dubbed productions.
Previously known as Content Lab, TransPerfect is a media localisation firm based in Airport City, Cape Town, and falls under their umbrella as TransPerfect Media South Africa. It is a leading localisation facility in South Africa, with major influence on the development of the language dubbing industry, serving a global clientele in multiple language pairs.
Its capabilities are in dubbing and voiceover, subtitling, closed captioning, content strategy, and creative direction in the Southern Africa region.
Role overview
The ideal candidate should have a passion for audio engineering, a keen ear for detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in capturing high-quality audio content for a variety of projects, including TV series, movies, e-learning content, audiobooks, and more.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate recording equipment for studio sessions, ensuring optimal sound quality and technical performance.
- Collaborate with artists, directors, and other team members to achieve the desired audio objectives for each project.
- Record, edit, and mix audio tracks in accordance with project requirements and industry standards.
- Troubleshoot technical issues as they arise during recording sessions, implementing solutions in a timely manner.
- Stay up to date with advancements in audio technology and techniques, continuously seeking opportunities for skill development and improvement.
Requirements
- Proficiency in the German language (spoken and written) is essential.
- Live in and around Cape Town, South Africa for an easy commute to the studio.
- Experience as a sound engineer in a professional studio/post production setting.
- Strong knowledge of audio recording techniques, signal flow, and studio equipment.
- Proficiency with digital audio workstations (DAWs) such as Pro Tools, Logic Pro, or Ableton Live.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and clients.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality audio content on time.
- Flexibility to work between 8.30am and 7.15pm, Mondays to Saturdays as needed and depending on project deadlines and scheduling requirements.
- A passion for postproduction, AI implementation, sound design, and audio production, with a desire to contribute to the success of our creative projects.
Preferred qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent certification in audio engineering, sound production, post production or a related field.
- Knowledge of microphone techniques, sync, editing, comping, mixing files and sound reinforcement principles.
- Familiarity with sound effects design and audio post production workflows.
- Previous experience in a dubbing studio and working with artists.
