(Karlah) Nhlamulo Johannes Rametsi
Bio
Nhlamulo Rametsi was born and raised in Soshanguve, Pretoria, Gauteng, and discovered his passion for music at the tender age of 12. Beginning as a tenor in the school choir, he quickly found his love for music growing. In 2019, with the guidance of Banele Mntungwa from the SANDF BAND, he picked up the tenor saxophone and delved into the world of classical music at the Unisa Music Foundation.
Joining the Unisa Youth Orchestra, the Harmony Big Band, and the Unisa Jazz Combo conducted by Thapelo Khumisi, Nhlamulo honed his skills and deeply appreciated jazz music. In 2022, he had the opportunity to perform with the University of Pretoria Symphony Orchestra (UPOS).
Recently, Nhlamulo showcased his exceptional talent by performing at the Amersfoort World Jazz Festival, which was endorsed by renowned musician Alexander Beets, further solidifying his reputation in the jazz community.
Currently enrolled at Tshwane University of Technology, studying for a Diploma in Performing Arts focusing on jazz and pop music, Nhlamulo is gaining recognition as a solo artist and as the band leader of the Unisa Junior Big Band. His dedication to his craft and his passion for music continues to drive him forward in his musical journey.
In addition to his musical career, Nhlamulo is also a piano-moving specialist, working under the supervision of Tshepiso Ledwaba, who became the first Black Steinway piano-approved technician in Africa in 2019 and is recognized as one of the most highly trained technicians in the world. His expertise in handling and transporting pianos further reflects his deep commitment to the world of music.
