Ghana: 3Music Awards to return this September
3Media Networks, the organiser of the 3Music Awards in Ghana, have announced the scheme’s return this September following a one-year break.
The development was confirmed to the press on 25 July by 3Media Networks CEO Rashidatu Yasmine Abdulai, who noted that her outfit has “reimagined our approach to ensure 3Music Awards celebrates musical excellence and sets new industry standards.”
First presented in 2018, the awards platform ranks among the most prominent celebrations of musicians in the country.
“This year, we are introducing fresh elements to captivate the audience and honour the artists who inspire us,” Abdulai said. “Our renewed commitment is to showcase the best in music and amplify the voices of our artists creating an inclusive and unforgettable experience.”
As with previous years, the 2024 3Music Awards is expected to be heralded by the 3Music Women’s Brunch which recognises outstanding women in Ghanaian music and a nominees event in August.
In July 2023, when 3Media Networks announced the postponement of the ceremony for the first time since its inception, the company said the decision, a “temporary setback”, was occasioned by the need to secure adequate financial support and sponsorship to “uphold the unmatched standard of excellence that has defined the 3Music Awards over the years.”
At the 2022 3Music Awards, the last time the awards were held, Afropop singer KiDi won the coveted Artist of the Year trophy for the second year running, besting hip hop act Black Sherif.
