Adekunle Gold treats Abuja to About 30
This past Saturday 9 June, urban highlife musician Adekunle Gold gave fans in Abuja, Nigeria a chance to listen to About 30, his follow-up album after his debut Gold.
As he did at the Trace Live event in Lagos, the Abuja event featured Adekunle Gold giving the audience insight into the thinking and execution behind songs on the album.
The event was part of a drive to give Nigeria’s capital some more mainstream musical experiences. As organized by CCX Lounge, which is owned by Chocolate City Group, the new development will give artists the opportunity to interact and connect with fans in the FCT.
The venue will feature live band performances on Fridays. IT will also feature recording artists working in a diverse set of genres, including jazz, soul and alternative music, during its monthly specials.
“It is our vision to create more of these experiences for our clients and music fans,” said Edward Israel-Ayide , senior marketing manager for Chocolate City Group. “CCX Lounge is a unique entertainment offering best suited for that, as it incorporates the elements of great food, great drinks and great music in one purpose-built venue.”
Speaking about the album, Adekunle Gold said it covers his experiences since turning 30. He also spoke about various issues, saying he intends for his music to be timeless. Praising his colleague Simi, he said the songstress provides technical support for his craft in the areas of songwriting, mixing and mastering.
