Dora Makwinja
Bio
Dora Susan Makwinja is a holder of Master’s Degrees in Business Administration and Intellectual Property Law, Commerce and Technology from the Franklin Pierce Law Centre, United States of America and . Before that, she graduated from the University of Malawi with Bachelor of Social Sciences Degree (Computer and Statistics).
She briefly worked for the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Lilongwe before joining the Copyright Society of Malawi (COSOMA which is both a Copyright Office for Malawi and a Collective Management Organization). She has worked for the organization since October 1997 to date and works as Copyright Administrator and Executive Director.
She has attended a good number of courses in Intellectual Property organized by WIPO and other international organizations mainly in the field of Copyright and Related Rights. She has also been engaged as a WIPO expert on Copyright and Related Rights and Collective Management of Copyright and Related Rights. She has also been a tutor for the distance learning WIPO programs on Copyright and Related Rights as well as Collective Management. Ms Makwinja is also the First Vice President of the International Federation of Reprographic Rights Organization (IFRRO) Board whose headquarters is in Brussels.
