Kenya: Munyasya unveils debut EP An Adwari

This EP, out via Paradise Sound System, features the vocals of Kenyan talent Lizzy Agolla, and weaves a compelling love story through Munyasya's raw and emotive electronic style.

Drawing inspiration from global pioneers like Black Coffee, Atmos Blaq, and DJ Ralph, Munyasya brings a fresh perspective to Afro-tech, blending international influences with local sounds. His recent feature on Spotify's prominent playlist Oontz highlighted his single ‘Sonder’, affirming his place among East Africa's electronic music elite.

The EP features collaborations that span continents, including Colombian powerhouse producer RÄK, Zurich-based Afro-tech maestro Kiberu, together with the innovative DJ and producer, Casis. Each contributor brings a distinct cultural flavour to the project, culminating in a remix EP set to expand Munyasya's sonic footprint.

RÄK's remix electrifies listeners with a dynamic fusion of techno and Afro-house, delivering a fresh and invigorating sound. Meanwhile, Kiberu’s deep-seated passion for Afro rhythms enriches the EP, offering listeners a delightful surprise. Additionally, Casis, celebrated for pushing boundaries in electronic music, infuses his trademark creativity into the collaboration, further enhancing the EP's diverse cultural tapestry.

Reflecting on the project, Munyasa said: “An Adwari symbolises my musical journey, enriched by Lizzy Agolla's lyrical narrative on love.”

Paradise Sound System has a history of nurturing exceptional talent, including past successful collaborations with Afro-house artists such as Thakzin, Zakes Bantwini, Thandi Draai, and Toshi.
