Nigeria: Alpha P joins Penthauze Music
Nigerian Afrobeats label Penthauze Music has unveiled singer Alpha P as its new signing.
“Welcome to Penthauze,” the label said, unveiling the musician, along with a new Olamide-assisted single titled ‘W’, which is available for streaming and download across all major digital platforms.
“The partnership with Penthauze marks a new chapter in Alpha P’s career, as he aligns himself with one of Nigeria’s most influential music figures,” a statement adds.
At the label, Alpha P joins the likes of rapper and label head Phyno, as well as pop act Cheque. Established in 2011, Penthauze initially featured artists like Runtown, Shugaboi and Flipside, with Storm Rex joining in 2014 as its first female artist.
Alpha P, born Princewill Emmanuel, fuses influences ranging from rap to Afrobeats, and was formerly signed to Universal Music Group. He is behind the 2019 debut EP King of the Wolves, and the 2020 Wolves & Mustang Vol. 1 and a series of singles.
In 2021, discussing his place among the ‘new wave’ of Afrobeats artists, the singer told Audiomack: “I feel honoured. I feel like I represent Africa. I represent the continent through music... the greatest export at the moment from Nigeria is her entertainment – music particularly. Once there’s music, everyone is happy.
“Being a part of these new wave acts means I provide this music for the people. When I go on Instagram every day, and I get tagged by a lot of people who are dancing and vibing to my music, it’s great and fulfilling. It makes me feel like I’m on the right path and I’m doing the right thing.”
Meanwhile, ‘W’, produced by London and listening as a mid-tempo ode to romance, heralds Alpha P’s third collection, Welcome to the Pack, due in early September.
