Open Call: Transglobal World Music Hall of Fame 2024
Transglobal World Music (TWMC) is inviting proposals for inductees into its 2024 Hall of Fame.
The Transglobal World Music Chart (TWMC) is a global network of journalists, critics, writers, and DJs specialising in world music.
The Transglobal World Music Hall of Fame, which names African greats like Salif Keïta, Oumou Sangaré and Fatoumata Diawara among previous inductees, celebrates excellence in the world music field with three categories:
- Artists (five annual inductions): Honours living solo and ensemble artists who have achieved lifelong artistic and technical excellence or historical significance in world music.
- Professional Excellence (three annual inductions): Celebrates influential music professionals (not artists), media individuals and organisations who have significantly increased visibility and recognition for world music and its various subgenres.
- In Memoriam (five annual inductions): Includes posthumous inductions that honour historically inventive and influential artists or industry professionals who have passed away in previous years or decades.
The Artist category will be judged by three TWMC administrators and four additional TWMC panel members, the Professional Excellence category by the same administrators plus four guests from the world music industry and media, and the In Memoriam category by the administrators along with four more TWMC panel members.
The nomination period for the 2024 Hall of Fame is open until 31 October.
Proposals may be submitted using the the online nomination form here.
Note: The scheme welcomes multiple proposals and requests that one form be completed for each proposal.
