Nigerian musicians nominated for The Future Awards Africa 2024
Nigerian musicians Qing Madi, Bnxn, Ruger, Young Jonn, and AnEndlessOcean have been nominated for the 18th edition of The Future Awards Africa (TFAAs), which celebrates outstanding young Africans.
Presented by The Future Project, the awards honour exceptional young individuals aged 18 to 31 across various fields, with this year’s theme being Celebrating the Great and Daring.
This year, awards will be presented in 23 categories, including music, education, law, professional services, entrepreneurship, agriculture, technology, photography, and film.
“It is with profound pride that we unveil this year’s nominees, a group that exemplifies the best of our continent,” TFAAs executive director Ayodeji Razaq said. “Their audacious vision and groundbreaking accomplishments have earned them a rightful place among the ‘Great and Daring.’ We are honoured to celebrate their contributions and look forward to the transformative work they will continue to do.”
The nominees for the coveted Young Person of the Year category will be revealed on 28 September.
Last year, Afrobeats singer Asake triumphed in the music category, beating fellow Nigerian act Ayra Starr, Cameroon’s Libianca, French-Malian singer Aya Nakamura, and French singer-songwriter of Cameroonian origin Tayc.
Other musicians who have won the TFAAs in past years include Tems in 2022, Wizkid, who won the 2017 Young Person of the Year award, as well as Davido and Burna Boy, who won the music categories in 2017 and 2019, respectively.
