Bio

Laverne Thomas is the Operations Lead at Warner Music Africa, a role she assumed after joining the company as Special Projects Officer and Chief of Staff to Temi Adeniji. In her current role, Laverne oversees key operations across the continent, driving strategic growth and operational excellence.

Laverne’s career began practicing law in the UK, specialising in human rights and civil liberties. Motivated to empower black creatives, she transitioned into consulting with artists (Ladipoe, Ycee) and early-stage businesses. In 2015, she relocated to Nigeria to launch a platform cooperative focused on supporting creatives through platform funding and structured project management.

Prior to joining Warner Music Africa, Laverne led the relaunch and reopening of the prestigious London-based Africa Centre. There, she operationalised the programmes department and spearheaded initiatives that celebrated creativity and innovation, positioning the Centre as a hub for contemporary African culture.

In addition to her role at Warner Music Africa, Laverne serves on several influential boards, including the IFPI Sub-Saharan Africa Regional Charts Committee, and the boards of the Recording Industry of Kenya (RIKE) and Nigeria (RELPI), contributing to the strategic direction and advancement of the African music industry.
