Nigeria: Young Jonn named Pepsi ambassador
Afrobeats act Young Jonn has secured an endorsement deal with beverage brand Pepsi.
The Chocolate City signee joins a growing roster of local creatives representing the brand, with Pepsi aiming to capitalise on Young Jonn’s rising popularity to engage a broader audience.
“Pumped to team up with the coolest in the game,” the singer-songwriter said. “Let’s make magic happen.”
As part of the deal, Young Jonn will participate in a series of campaigns. According to a statement Young Jonn “brings his unique vibe to the Pepsi family, a perfect match for the brand that’s all about refreshing the world with music and flavour.”
The artist has also released a remix of his hit song ‘Big Big Tinz’, with fresh lyrics dedicated to Pepsi.
Young Jonn is among the biggest Nigerian breakout artists from 2022, thanks to his Love Is Not Enough EP series, which birthed popular songs such as the Davido-assisted ‘Dada’ and ‘Xtra Cool’. He is also behind the 16-track Jiggy Forever LP, released earlier this year.
Over the years, Pepsi has partnered with Afrobeats stars like Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Davido and Rema.
With support from American distribution company EMPIRE, Pepsi has also launched the Pepsi Music Academy to provide aspiring Nigerian musicians with crucial industry knowledge, including legal, marketing, and A&R insights.
In related news, last month, fellow Afrobeats singer Lojay inked an endorsement deal with Coca-Cola Nigeria to promote its new Wozzaah flavour.
