Red Bull Turn It Up makes SA debut with DJ battles

For the first time, Red Bull Turn It Up is set to take place in South Africa, bringing together some of the country’s most dynamic DJ duos for a high-energy competition.

The competition kicks-off in Johannesburg on 22 February at Playground in Braamfontein.

The event, which will unfold across Johannesburg, Durban, and Cape Town, will see teams competing in real-time to create spontaneous mixes based on surprise themes. Unlike traditional DJ battles, the audience will play a crucial role in determining the winners, with crowd engagement and cheers deciding who takes the title.

The competition kicks-off in Johannesburg on 22 February at Playground in Braamfontein, where duos including Ms Cosmo and DJ Tshegu, PH and Mac Shawty, Kyotic and Mac Breezy, and Courtnaé Paul and Rox Paperz Scissors will go head-to-head. The night will be hosted by Teddy Goodfella, who will guide the crowd through the electrifying showdowns.

From there, the event moves to Durban on 26 February at The Villa, Waterfront, where Que DJ and Asvnte, Xola TSM and Cndie Blaq, Stanky and DJ Meech, and Jnr Richi and Nomadik will battle it out for a place in the final.

The series will culminate in Cape Town on 15 March at Club Paradise, where Kyeezi and Milwa the DJ, Roscosteazy and Insertcoinz, Gremlin and Kane, and Enrico Celento and Waggy will take to the decks in a final bid for the top spot.

Each city’s event promises an electric atmosphere, showcasing local talent and celebrating South Africa’s vibrant music culture. With the audience in control of the final verdict, the competition is set to deliver thrilling moments and unforgettable performances.
