SA: Mzansi Kwaito and House Music Awards announce winners

The third edition of the awards was hosted by radio and TV personality DJ Sbu.

Busiswa received awards in the Best House Single and Best House Artist categories. ‘Midnight Starring’, a track by DJ Maphorisa featuring Busiswa, DJ Tira and Moonchild Sanelly, was the Most Voted Song. The Best New House Artist and Best New Kwaito Artist awards went to Siyafield and Ak4Fellas respectively. The Best Gqom Artist category was included for the first time this year and Zinhle Ngidi was the winner.

The Lifetime Achievement Award was awarded to Doc Shebeleza for his outstanding contribution to the South African music industry. The late Mandoza was posthumously awarded with the Best Kwaito Song of 1996 – 2000 Award.

“It has been a very long year for us and we have faced many difficult challenges these past few months,” MKHMA public relations officer Mondli Mlauza said. “On behalf of MKHMA, I would like to thank everybody who contributed to the success of the awards. Special mention also goes out to SAMRO for believing in local talent and supporting the awards.”
