RISH
Bio
RISH is a Kenyan-born, international performing and recording singer-songwriter from Nairobi. Though she enjoys many styles of music, her preferred genre is rock
Having entered the music scene as a singer in May 2015, she’s had a number of singles topping the rock charts since then. Most notable of her songs are The Hate Song (2015), At the end of the day (2015), My Strength (2016), Remember Me (2016) and Habits (2017). While recording her music with Nick Wathi at Andromeda Music, she also featured in three other tracks from the album Underscore The Architect.
These songs are Echoes of Andromeda, Remember Me (Hallelujah) and a small vocal and lyrical contribution to In Your Wake with Nigerian rocker Danjumah from the band One Last Autograph
Always Summer In Africa (ASIA)
In 2017, while struggling to find instrumentalists who were willing and capable to perform with her at a festival in Angola, RISH coined the band name ASIA, and swore to populate it with only the most uniquely talented musicians. As it stands, ASIA has been performing with RISH for at least one year, since February of 2018 and is now composed of 4 members and counting. RISH on vocals, JC on bass, Hybrid Intuition on lead guitar, Joseph on Rhythm guitar and Atsula on drums and keys.
Musical Influences
RISH writes all her music and plays a little guitar, but often collaborates with diverse creatives in the music scene. She has played in bands such as Murfy's fLaw, Blackfog Angel, Hounds and Maiden, The Beathogs and Seismic before breaking out on her own as a solo artist. Her influences come from bands and artistes such as Sage Chemutai (Kenya), Last Year’s Tragedy (Kenya), Mvula (Angola), Seether (South Africa), John Mayer, Aretha, Jack Johnson, Janis Joplin, Jason Mraz, Gavin DeGraw, Michael Buble, Maroon Five, Cold, Crossfade, RED, Dor Fantasma and many, many more. Locally Murfy’s fLaW’s Reema Doshi is a voice RISH has unashamedly tried to emulate. Further afield, Nigeria’s Queen of Rock, ClAy is high on the list of people RISH deems worthy of the rock star title.

Television Appearances
In 2014, RISH was lucky enough to be in the top 6 finalists of the Airtel Trace Music Stars. Using this as a bouncing board, she has continued to record music and perform live every chance she gets. It was during the preparation for Airtel Trace Music Stars that she started to dig back into the recesses of her musical mind. While there, she remembered a song she had written as a teenager.
