Call for registration: Music workshop in Tanzania
Musicians in Tanzania can now register for a one-day songwriting, production and live performance workshop at Nafasi Art Space in Dar es Salaam on 22 February.
Nafasi Art Space performing arts manager Kwame Mchauru told Music In Africa that Ugandan musician Mad Ice would facilitate the workshop. Mchauru encouraged musicians to take the opportunity to tap into the knowledge and experience of the experienced artist.
“These workshops are very important to local musicians because they help them to gain much-needed experience for their careers,” he said. “Most of the local musicians have neither the access to formal music education nor professional exposure.
“Through this workshop, musicians will be able to understand important elements that one needs to take into consideration before and when performing live.”
Mad Ice encouraged both upcoming and established artists to attend the workshop. “This workshop is for all musicians who would like to improve their live performance skills,” he said. “For upcoming musicians, they should see this as an opportunity for acquiring free knowledge that can bring great changes to their careers.
"No matter how good a musician you might be, if your live performances are below par, your career will never gain the traction it needs.”
Registration is free and interested individuals can register by sending an email to kwame@nafasiartspace.org.
