BlaQBerry MusiQ

BlaQberry MusiQ (aka BlaQberry Jazz) blends diverse genres including blues, soul, rock, funk, mhande, kwaito and classical music with strong elements of jazz to great organic, homegrown and original music. The outfit’s music has universal appeal - it transcends age, preferences and social standing. This quartet of passionate and energetic musicians brings together the talents of Filbert Marova, Eve Kawadza, Tafadzwa Marova and Mutsawashe Gudlanga.

Marova is a veteran pianist, songwriter, musician and producer and brings a wealth of experience to the band. He has that special touch which adds a certain sophistication and quality to the band’s superb performance. He has also worked with notable acts like the Frontline Kids, Jazz Invitation, Dorothy Masuka and many others.

BlaQberry also boasts the unique vocal talent of Eve Kawadza, whose mature, soulful and sultry voice belies her young age. Eve was discovered at Book Café’s 'Sistaz Open Mic' session and took part in Umoja and Pamberi Trust’s Bocapa Exposure Music Competition. Bassist Tafadzwa Marova is a young maestro who is in a class of his own.
