Tendex Madzviti
Bio
Tendex born Tendai L Madzviti (13 November 1987) is an Afro pop/ afro traditional folk music brand and a founder of a band The Luggards. Tendex has had a major hit single titled Baya featuring the Mukoko hit maker Tytan. He is currently working on two albums one with a Pop feel which he is recording as a solo artist at JP studios with Chiweddar and an Afro fusion ensemble with his band The Luggards which he is recording at Monolio studio with the great Mono Mukundu.
Accomplishments
He has shared the stage with various artists including Jamaram band (Germany) at HIFA and have toured in Europe in 2014 and 2015 promoting their album Heavy Heavy under Zim All Stars. Before that in 2011 Tendex was chosen to be the voice of Umoja Zimbabwe which was a cultural exchange program between four countries which where Zimbabwe, Mozambique, South Africa and Norway. This led him to perform for one of his biggest audience in Mozambique as they were celebrating their independence’s day.
In 2012 Tendex found himself touring in South Africa under the same program Umoja as he was selected for the second time. This also led to him sharing the stage with the late Dr Tuku Mtukudzi who grew interest in the young man’s talent after he sang a classic song called “Irie” by the late Lucky Dube.
Tendex has a degree in Ethnomusicology which he acquired in 2017 at the Zimbabwe College Of Music in his hometown Harare. Around the same time, he formed his Band, The Luggards and they have an album to their called “Gwendo” which has a well-known video called “Chembere Dzemusango” which futures Ammara Brown.
Tendex is also Ammara Brown’s male backing vocalist taking all the male lead vocals when performing live. Under Ammara they have performed at big stages around Zimbabwe, Malawi, Zambia and South Africa. When he has time he also sings backing vocals for Vimbai Zimuto and Mai tt.
Besides singing, Tendex is also a dancer and a wedding steps choreographer. He is also an actor having been in a few local dramas like Shaniques which was aired on ZBC and he recently received an award as the best actor at the Reps Theatre for his row in the Zim Lion King where he played Raffiki.
