Mseto

Mseto live is a hardware hybrid set with analogue synths, sequencers, marimba, Ngoma, percussions, live sampling and looping. The recently formed project Mseto delivers edgy electronic dance music with an undeniable African touch with no folklorist attitude to it.

Shabani Mugado, Tanzanian multi-instrumentalist, dancer and choreographer contributes Marimba ya Kizamaro (the Marimba of the Zamaro tribe) and traditional Tanzanian Ngoma to the mix. Jan-S. Beyer, German producer, drummer, and composer of music for theatre and film, runs Shabani’s beats through his Hamburg studio crammed with synthezisers – the rest is Mseto.
