Call for applications: 2020 Youth Expressions Festival in SA

The South African State Theatre’s (SAST's) department of Education, Youth and Children Theatre (EYCT) is calling on young arts practitioners with exciting new works to send their proposals for a chance to be featured at the 2020 edition of the Youth Expressions Festival in Pretoria.

All proposals must be submitted to eyct@statetheatre.co.za with the genre being proposed in the subject line of the email.

The submission deadline is 20 September. Applicants who do not get a response by 15 November should consider their applications unsuccessful.

Interested young creatives should send proposals in any of the below genres:

Music
Musical theatre
Children’s theatre
Dance/physical theatre
Drama
Poetry
Visual arts

All proposals are required to feature the following:

Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 35 in 2020.
Motivation letter of how the production is relevant, meaningful and entertaining.
Creative team information that includes biographies and contact details.
Full script and a brief synopsis.
Four-page narrative treatment (if there is no script or if it will be a dance/devised production).
For visual artists, a full portfolio is required.

The SAST will provide all selected candidates with financial, artistic and technical support.
