Call for applications: DJ and music production bursaries in South Africa

The competition seeks to award one aspiring DJ and an emerging music producer who want to upgrade their skills.

In order to be part of this competition, participants need to do the following:

• Upload a five-minute mix or track on YouTube or SoundCloud.
• Share the uploaded mix song on Twitter or Facebook with the hashtags #JourneyAcrossTheBlackAtlantic and #MoshitoUnchained
• Complete the official entry form.

The application deadline is 4 October and the winners will be announced 7 October.

Eligibility

To enter this competition, you must:

• Be aged between 18 and 25 years old.
• Be living in Gauteng.
• Have a Grade 10 certificate.
• Have a valid South African ID or permanent residency status.

DJ course

Boston City Campus and Business College and Soul Candi DJ Store have teamed up to bring a revolutionary new approach to deejaying. This programme is intended to integrate modern DJ techniques. The short course will provide the winner with the skills required to enter the music industry. The short learning programme provides exciting career opportunities in the fields of music, such as radio, mix DJ and mobile DJ.

Digital music composition and production course

The course is also a partnership between Boston City Campus and Business College and Soul Candi DJ Store. It is designed to introduce a new approach to digital music composition and production. The programme integrates modern music composition with all the latest music production techniques used by some of the world’s best hitmaking producers. The short course will provide career opportunities in the fields of music and music business such as remixer, producer, film score composer, sound and music design for games, TV, film and other multimedia applications, record producer, post production and mastering engineer.
