Fadhilee Itulya
Bio
Fadhilee Itulya from Kenya, began his professional music career in 2008 featuring on the Nairobi Alliance Francaise compilation album entitled “Spotlight on Kenyan Music”. His music draws inspiration from a style Kenyan guitar music called OMUTIBO from the Luhya people of Western Kenya that is driving, syncopated and gets people to dance like nothing else. His music has elements of Acoustic Folk, Pop/Dance and World Music making a melange of good time music that is grounded in culture, community and care for the environment.
Fadhilee counts among his influences the music of Habib Koite (Mali), Ayub Ogada (Kenya) Bob Marley (Jamaica) and Richard Bona (Cameroon).
His debut album Kwetu (Home) features 10 songs and 4 bonus tracks of Isukuti percussion showcasing the roots percussion style of Western Kenya.
Fadhilee has performed world wide including Cool Waters Jazz Fest(Kenya), Doa Doa (Uganda), Karibu Music Fest (Tanzania), Sauti za Busara (Zanzibar), Afrima Awards (Ghana), Paxos Reggae Festival(Greece), Allsång i Linnéparken (Sweden), Luchhtturm Festival (Switzerland), SOFAR OSLO (Norway), among many others.
Besides his performing career, Fadhilee hosts Fadhilee's garage, a monthly concert series, and is the founder of Utam Festival (Kenya). He has the rare honor of being one of 8 global brand ambassadors for SWINTI a distinguished brand of Swiss timepieces.
