Afro RED

Afro RED is an award-winning Afro-fusion jazz band from Lusaka, Zambia.

The band was formed in 2009 by bassist David Kasochi together with founding members David Kasochi, Evans Shawa and Ronald Mhdluli as well as gifted guitarist Jones Kabanga.

The band has since hired new members including David Kasochi (bass guitar), Jones Kabanga (lead guitar), Manasseh Phiri and Luka Mwansa (piano and keyboards), Frank Phiri (drums) and Saxsa (vocals).

The band recorded its debut album in 2010. The album came out tops in the Best Jazz Album of the Year category at the 2015 Zambian Music Awards.

In 2020, the band recorded it's second album 'Homeland'. which is scheduled for release in June.

Afro RED has performed at the Stanbic Misty Jazz festivals alongside Earl Klugh, Oliver Mtukudzi and Hugh Masekela.
