Chocolate has been writing songs since he was ten years old, but he actually started to record music when he was 15 years old. For all this time he has been trying to explore different genres of music but his preliminary focus was on hip-hop music. Writing words to music started when he was only ten years old and his actual music instrumental production began when he started recording at age 15. Since then he has been making instrumentals and recording audio. He made music in the comfort of his bedroom for almost five years before actually stepping into a real studio at age 20, when he enrolled for a Sound Engineering and Audio production course at Damelin Bloemfontein. That was after attempting to pursue a Bachelor of Social Sciences Degree from the University of Free State. The degree was never acquired.
