Clive Bean

Clive Bean is a professional DJ, music compiler and lecturer from South Africa.

Bean is also a music curator, radio show host at Jozi Maboneng Radio.

Bean’s music career began in 1994 following his involvement at high school events in Vosloorus. This was highly inspired by his collection of mixtapes which included Ganyani, Tokzen and Bob Mabena’s drive time show that played on Radio Bop. Bean’s musical taste at the time covered a wide range of styles: hip hop (Krs One, Keith Murray and De la Soul), Funk (Ashford and Simpsons, Kool and the Gang, Diana Ros) and house music.

In 1999, Bean joined Suga Trax, a vinyl and DJs accessory store, which was renamed Soulcandi Records. For years, Bean conceptualised and coordinated his events. He has been commissioned by Levi®’s to compile a series of South Africa's Afrodeep house music for stores all over the country. As part of Soulcandi’s current A&R team, Bean is a compiler for international and national dance music compilation Cd’s. Bean now combines his career as a professional DJ with teaching.

Bean is also a head DJ lecturer at Boston City Campus (Soulcandi Institute of Music), in Johannesburg.

- 2013 - present: Founder of City Soul Addicts hosted Monthly in Clubs in and around Johannesburg Suburbia, Newtown and Braamfontein.

- 2015 - 2017; Head Honcho for Reminisce Sunday, a forth nightly Sunday Deep Tech House concept hosted at Kitcheners (Braamfontein, Jozi - South Africa)

- 2013 Compilation released Deeper Sounds Of Clive Bean through F! Records (Soulcandi's sister label)

- 2010 CD compilation “Soul Essentials” was released on SoulCandi sessions 5 and has sold Platinum.

- 2009/10/11 ®Levi’s Live Mixtapes: quarterly compilations (played at all Levi’s stores throughout South Africa)

- 2008/2009 Compilation released with U.S based Kingstreet Records: Mix The Vibe Series “Mix The Vibe S.A” Double Cd Compilation with Teddy Douglas (Baltimore, USA)

- 2005/ 2006 Compilation released with UK based Defected In The House “Downtown Grooves” Cd Compilation

- 2004-05 He got a radio mix slot @ YFm 99.2 on Rudeboy Paul & Sanza’s Kamikaze Breakfast
