Epic The Scriptwriter

Epic the scriptwriter is a rapper, song writer, scriptwriter, host but above all else he is an artist striving to create a new identity of the South African hip hop scene and culture. By constantly experimenting and adapting more traditional melodies and Xhosa nuances he hopes to innovate South African hip hop music to a more personal form of expression. Nangamso has had collaborations with a diverse array of artists such as James Smith, Big Zulu, Ian Kamau, Zubz, Blak Lez and Nyambs (to mention but a few) which showcase his diversity and willingness to be more than just your average rapper - Nangamso strives to be an artist.

Nangamso has to date realised three studio albums under his alias “Epic The Scriptwriter”. The first at age of 19 earning him a 4 out of 5 star rating in the local hip hop publication; Hype magazine. This project was followed by Green which has received play on national radio stations such as Metro FM, Mhlobo Wene FM and Tru FM. He is currently working on his third project simply titled Nangamso.

Nangamso has shared stages with Knaan, Pro, Mobb Deep, Arno Carstens, Pharoah Monch, Jean Grea, Kwesta, Casper and Many more acts.

Nangamso has performed at the National arts festival, The spring festival, Zone 6 Sprite uncontainable tour, South African hip hop awards, The One Blood festival and has graced many clubs and pubs with more intimate audiences.

As locally appealing as Nangamso strives to be, he also looks up to international acts such as Outkast, Nina Simone, Kanye West, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar etc. for their ability to shift cultural dynamics and hopes to achieve similar outcomes.
