Goof Young

Goof Young is an artist from South Africa, Ofitlhile Matau, better known by his stage name, Goof Young, is a 24 year old recording artist born in a small village in Rustenburg called Mogajane, but raised and grew up in Midrand, Noordwyk. From grade 1 until 5, Goof attended a boarding school in Magaliesburg called Bekker Hoërskool. A fun fact about me; I was the youngest and only grade 1 pupil living at the boardinghouse at the age of 6. At 13 years old my boarding and rural boy days were over as my mother, late big brother Oteng and I relocated to Midrand where I completed my primary education at the private school Summerhill. The cheese boy image did not entirely embody who I was or thought to be, but it would help shape my persona as a rapper. I went on to finish high school at Midrand High, where by graduation, 2017, I had already released 3 mixtapes. Goof Young was built and solidified . Still following my musical path, I studied and graduated tertiary a consider myself a very passionate person. Since a young age, all I’ve dedicated myself to, sports, arts and even design, I’ve put my all into. But from the beginning of my music journey till this present day, music has been the passion that puts all into me. That’s how I know I’ve chosen an unblemished path through music, because what I want to do for life, is what gives me life and there’s no greater blessing. .
