Hloni

Bio

The soil of the South has birthed another son for a generation. In the form of a musical soul and fine gentleman, Hloni is a Tribal Afro Pop/Soul/Jazz artist from Kimberley in the Northern Cape. He is a singer/songwriter, guitarist, composer, song arranger, Actor and producer. With 18 years invested in the music and theatrical realm. His melodic maturity and appeal lies evident in his song. After lending his vocal talents to groups like Colourful Souls and Highlights Encore, Hloni has recently stretched his wings and flew forward as a solo artist, though he still works with the latter, on occasion. He has mesmerized numerous stages in and around the Free State and the Northern Cape. Some of these events being a Jazz, Art and Poetry exhibit at the Stanville Rooftop, CUT International Day, Vrynge at the University of the Free State, Free State Art Fusion Sessions, Vryvees festival and many more over the past years. In addition to many incredible platforms performed on, Hloni has also shared his magic at the Diamonds and Dorings Art Festival in Kimberley, where he performed alongside artists like Sjava, Amanda Black and various others. He has also performed as an opening act for Mafikizolo and Zahara on separate occasions. As a musical coach and arranger, Hloni has also made an impact at the residences at the University of the Free State, having coached and arranged music for the respective showcases.

Amongst other things, Hloni is also a thespian. In 2017, Hloni embarked on a journey to study performing Arts with MDG performing Arts Academy in Mangaung, in the Free State Province and subsequently graduated in 2018. During his studies at MDG Performing Arts Academy, he acted in 4 mainstream plays at MDG performing Arts, where he was selected as a main character of all 4 shows respectively because of the talent and excellent portrayal of the required roles.

In 2019, he played the role of CC (a popular songwriter in the 1960s) in a broadways show called dreamgirls which took place in partnership with the University of the Free State and Pacofs.

In 2022, he toured Europe with the Jackson Cassidy Cultural Exchange Programme and performed in nine (9) venue between the City of Nantes and Paris.
