Liso the Musician is a multi-talented South African artist, hailed as one of the greatest talents to emerge from Khayelitsha in recent years. Born and raised in Khayelitsha, Liso has established herself as a leading figure in the music industry, known for her captivating performances and unique blend of Ancestral Jazz.
With a career spanning over a decade, Liso has achieved numerous accolades, including Best Performance in Music at the 2017 Cape Town Fringe Festival, Best Vocalist at the 2010 Klein Libertas Festival, and a nomination for Best Afro Pop at the annual Radio Zibonele Awards. She has also performed at prestigious events such as the NAF Standard Bank Ovation Awards, the 30th Up the Creek Festival, and the French Institute's Paths to Democracy Forum.
In 2023, Liso made her international debut in France, performing in Toulouse and securing a booking on the spot. She has also launched her latest album, SIKHANYISELWE, named after her late daughter, to a sold-out audience at The Market Theatre.
As a composer, actress, music writer, vocalist, radio presenter, and tutor, Liso is a true creative force. She is the founder of ILISO ART MEDIA (IAM) and has released her music on all digital platforms, accompanied by professional music videos on YouTube.
