Machete Jr

Born on 28th October, 1995, Machete Jr is a Zambian rapper based in Samfya the tourist capital for the Zambia Northern circuit of Luapula

Province. His music is heavily influenced by crosscutting and social issues in the society such

as inequality, injustices, discrimination to mention just a few, with an intention to educate,

entertain and inform. His style of rap mixes new age influences with aspects of Dunka, African

Hip hop, Zamrock, Afro beats and most of African sounds.

Machete Jr draws his inspiration from musical artists with the likes of Tech9ne, Lucky Dube and most of the Zamrock artists of 1970 in Zambia.

Apart from that Machete Jr also draws his influence from Pan-Africanists like Julius Malema south African strongest opposition leader.

He has been doing music since 2015, a year just after he accomplished his Grade 12, but took it

more serious in 2020.

He is so proud and passionate about being an artist than any other profession, because he

enjoys, expresses himself freely while doing it, hence he believes music is therapical. He also

uses music to communicate important information and amplify voices of the less voiced. Machete Jr is also 1/5 member of a music group from Luapula known as Knack Unity. The

group consists of Ben Hitmaker, Machete Jr, Single H2K, Kwanza and Cap10 Jay. Knack Unity

was formed in 2020 with a vision of Pan-Africanism.

In the mid 2021s, Knack Unitys' popularity grew rapidly across the country via various social

media platforms in all 10 Provinces of Zambia through songs like, Dollar, Babufi, Wilaba,

Business, Umudanso, Oh No, Freedom; among other songs.

Machete Jr and his friends have worked with top notch music producers like Shinko Beats, Jazzy Boy, Dj Momo, Jay

Swagg, Rich Pro, Kofimix, Chester and Mass On This.

On 24th August, 2021 Knack Unity was invited to perform on the Inauguration Ceremony of the

7th Republican President of Zambia (H.E Hakainde Hichilema) at National Heroes Stadium in

Lusaka.

Further still, on October 1st, 2022, they were voted the Best Artists in Luapula Province under

Provincial Category in the Sun FM Kwacha Music Awards.
