Bio
Mikele Mukisa is a world music singer, songwriter and a humanitarian from Uganda, he sings the native languages of Acholi which is a Luo dialect from Northern Uganda, Luganda From the central, Swahili and English, Born in a family of four with him as the eldest, he grew up with his mother who was a choir leader in a Pentecostal church thus the influence to sing at an early age,
this saw him contest for the first season of a reality music show , (the Tusker Project Fame Season One in 2006) while he made it to the Ugandan finals he was not able to win but picked up lessons that helped him improve on his musical craft, this helped him become a better singer,
His music speaks volumes of the African heritage with a blend of native instruments Like the Akogo (Thumb Piano), Mulere (African flute), Endidngidi ( African Violin) etc ,which he believes is the best way to uplift his people.
Being born from Gulu a District from the Northern part of Uganda , he witnessed multiple insurgencies carried out by (LRA) Lord's Resistance Army , a rebel group that led to massive death and displacement of the people for decades , these incidences shaped Mikele Mukisa into the kind of musician he is .
With all these behind him he decided if he was going sing , it should be about peace , love, life and humanity , therefor with his music he believes he can make the world a better place and put a smile on the faces of people again.
While sticking to his dream ,to create a land mark in his World music journey , he released a 5track Ep named Lobo which means the world, with songs like Lobo (the World) , Dako (woman) , Kuc (Peace ), Mirina( My Desire) and Akello, This Ep fairly gave him Recognition, Where two songs made it to the top 40 count down on Ethnocloud world music Platform, with Lobo at number 5 on the African chart and Number 20 on the world chart.
The success of Lobo went on when it featured on a Ugandan film, THE GIRL IN THE YELLOW JUMPER by Loukman Ali in collaboration with American film star Morroco Omari , Mikele is currently working on finalising his New upcoming album with a dream of earning a Grammy someday , besides singing as career, he is also involved in humanitarian work for instance the together initiative where he teamed up with friends to raise food for the masses during the pandemic , with all these at hand he believes his music is a very vital tool to build a better community as he preaches youth empowerment , love and peace with and aim of positively changing the whole-world one step at a time.
