Nodiggity

Nodiggity is a Johannesburg based DJ, curator, writer and researcher engaging with music as a conjuring portal. On the decks she explores sounds across South African electronic dance music. She's particularly interested in sharing the voices of femmes and queer people in the electronic music realm through her sets and mixes. She's driven by contributing to inclusive and affirming dance floors and hopes that her work can do this not only in SA but across the diaspora. The sonic is a communication path that expands that of words, time and place for her.

Traveling across afrotech, gqom, house , amapiano and exploring sounds from across the African diaspora is something she enjoys inviting people on dance-floors to participate in.

My journey into this realm began when I realised the need for femme DJs that looked like me on the decks in nightlife spaces i was navigating and this really sparked my passion to get into selecting and mixing music to make people dance and exchange joy-filled energy. Quickly after that I was extremely drawn towards learning about the language music can become through DJing and the synchronicity that can unfold in between the curator of sound (the DJ) and the dance floor. I explore new sounds as much as i can as music has been a portal of healing and connecting with others for me.

I’ve hosted, recorded and curated guest and resident shows on online radio platforms like Lilies Radio, NTS Radio, Oroko Radio, The Other Radio. Through these portals i have been able to really explore African spiritual frequencies through sound. I am inspired by embodying African dance music in (re)imagined ways.
