Rocksteady, born and raised in Maputo, Mozambique, carries a rich cultural tapestry woven from his early years in Maputo and his later life in Soweto, South Africa, where his family migrated when he was nine years old. This unique blend of Mozambican and South African influences has profoundly shaped his identity, both as an artist and as an individual.

Rocksteady’s music captures the spirit of two vibrant cultures, blending the melodic intricacies of Mozambican rhythms with the dynamic energy of Soweto’s musical traditions. As a singer, songwriter, producer, and engineer, his artistry reflects a deep commitment to authenticity and storytelling, connecting listeners to themes of resilience, migration, and cultural pride.

His upcoming EP, Rebel Soljourner, set for release on March 5, 2025, marks a pivotal moment in his career. The title reflects his journey as a "rebel" navigating the challenges of cultural duality while being a "sojourner" exploring his place in the world. The EP is an introspective yet vibrant collection of five original tracks that celebrate identity, perseverance, and the spirit of rebellion against societal constraints.
Recording and Production Journey: The EP was recorded across various sessions at Rocksteady's mobile studio and professional studios such as Altune Studios in Katlehong and Passage on Studios in Norwood. Rocksteady played a hands-on role in engineering, recording, and producing the tracks. The production process involved months of collaboration, dedication, and fine-tuning, with the final touches, including mixing and mastering, set to be completed by January 2025.
