S'coo

Sikhululiwe Madonko, born in1980, and grew up in the Sizinda township of Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, cultivated a deep passion for arts and music from an early age. Recognizing her significant talent in singing, she embarked on her journey as an artist. Collaborating with various bands, she honed her skills and gained invaluable experience under the guidance of renowned giants and mentors in the music industry.

Taking a journey back to Scoo's early days, she began her musical career in 1999 with her first gospel group "Abakholwayo". They recorded their first album “Baba Sibuthene” at the House of Rising Sound with the late Joe Maseko. Two years later she joined Overdrive Band. This marked a new season of ventures into the music industry. She continued to expand her exposure and experience by collaborating with other notable bands such as Five Fold Band under the leadership of Hudson Simbarashe, Submarine Band, Cassims Band,Jazz Impacto and Friends Band.

In 2007, together with her husband Mathias Ziyambi, S’coo co-founded Say Band, a significant milestone in her musical journey. This endeavour showcased her ability to not only contribute as a talented vocalist but also to work collaboratively in a team. Together as a team, they brought their unique blend of musicianship and passion to their performances, leaving a lasting impact on audiences.

These early experiences with various bands laid the foundation for Scoo’s growth and development as an artist. Each collaboration allowed her to acquire invaluable skills, expand her musical horizons, and connect with fellow musicians. These collective experiences played a crucial role in shaping her artistry and setting the stage for her future creative endeavours.

In 2010, the recording of the iconic "Song for Mama," as part of the “How many days” album, recorded as S'coo and the Jazz Elements, marked a milestone shift as she entered a new realm of creative exploration and artistic expression. 

All along S’coo has contributed to and grown in the corporate world in Admin, operations and sales spanning across industries from financial services to fashion and beauty.

Her current expression includes her involvement at The Oasis Creators’ Hub, where she runs the operations and creates platforms for artists to explore, collaborate and ultimately create. She is passionate  to create safe spaces for creatives and to help unlock value so that they can use their talent to be profitable in their art. Her overriding passion and impact is, through music, to deliver hope and freedom to others in a way that helps them to shine.

She believes that collaboration across borders on the continent of Africa will bring synergies of discovery, expression and growth and bring that shine all across the continent. She truly believes the best is yet to come as we work together to develop art in Africa and is excited for her own contribution as she continues to create unique material and unlock potential in others.
