Simply Eugene
Bio
Simply Eugene is a producer from South Africa.
In his current solo album that comes after 17 years of not releasing as a solo artist, titled “ Let Dogs Lie Low” and branding himself “SIMPLY EUGENE,” one can tell that Eugene Mthethwa has been part of different genres in his lifetime and such influences can be felt on different songs he has produced in this new album with songs like “Sizodlala La” which is neatly crafted to reflect the influences of the current craze caused by Amapiano infused with Kwaito as the genre that gave birth to Amapiano.
When you listen to “Wobuya Lovie” you get a sense of adult contemporary jazz having previously produced music for a Jazz artist by the name of Fortune Xaba and a West African artist known as Koffi, the difference in his song is that, it brings in the energy that could lead one to dance energetically. Other songs have the Jabu Khanyile feel and the gospel feel which reflect his previous involvement in the production of the debut albums of gospel giants such as Jabu Hlongwane, Vicky Vilakazi and Family Factory that has evolved into what is now known as Joyous Celebration.
