SOLLO7
Bio
Sollo7 is a singer, songwriter and producer based in Accra, Ghana. His passion is to perform to a live audience. His debut album, Asansa, is an eclectic boiling pot of Highlife, Afrobeat rhythms and R&B melodies. However between the release of his debut project and now Sollo7 has been able to define his sound as a fusion of Highlife sounds from the 50's, 60's and 70's blended with modern pop nuances and re-imagined for the 21st century. He calls this 'Neo-Highlife,' a sound he fondly describes as Highlife for the future. It is a sound that ranges between the rhythmic/groovy as well as soft and easy ballad. Sollo7 believes African's are not only a dancing people but also a listening one; they are capable of enjoying slow and lyrical songs as much as up-tempo ones. He has therefore developed his sound within the confines of highlife to offer this variety.
Sollo7 was born into a family where music was a norm. With his father’s help Sollo7 has nurtured his gift of playing the keyboards and drums. He developed his live stage act by working with the African/international multiple award-winning singer-songwriter Kojo Antwi (The Maestro). He also served as front man for the Ghanaian band Ohia Beye Ya Band band (now Kwashibu Area Band - touring with Pat Thomas in Europe) for a few years. His solo career took off when he released a number of African wedding-themed projects and headlined a few shows in Accra.
His recent singles are quintessential reflections of his Neo-Highlife sound. One such example is his song 'Me Ne Woa' which features a rap by the Ghanaian superstar, Okyeame Kwame. Most people describe Sollo7’s voice as the soulful cry of an old soul and the exuberance of a young gem. With a passion for live performance, Sollo7's mission is to serve Ghana, Africa and the world with more of his prolific songwriting and enchanting stage performance.
