2Baba to headline Nollywood Film Fest Germany
Nigerian artist 2Baba will headline the 2019 edition of Nollywood Film Festival Germany (NFFG), which kicks off on 30 August and climaxes with the Nollywood Europe Golden Awards (NEGAs) a day later.
The event will take place at Saray Turkuaz Event Centre in Frankfurt am Main. It will also feature Zeal of Ghanaian hiplife group VVIP alongside other upcoming African musical acts like Don Vs, Chuks Cbily, Lilian Dinma and Mark Edo.
The NFFG, founded by culture advocate and filmmaker Isaac Izoya, is a platform designed for African filmmakers to showcase their works to Europeans and Nollywood fans in the diaspora, while the NEGAs are the arm of the event designed to honour entertainment stakeholders drawn from sectors such as music, film, comedy, theatre, tourism and the visual arts.
The awards have also been expanded to recognise the artistic biases of outstanding personalities whose actions have directly or indirectly impacted the industry.
The NFFG has been in existence since 2014 in partnership with the Hessen State Ministry of Arts and Culture, the Ministry of Multicultural Affairs, the Nigerian embassy in Berlin and the Nigeria community in Frankfurt.
2Baba is expected to receive a NEGA for his 20 years in the music industry alongside his manager Efe Omorogbe. The event also makes part of 2Baba's upcoming European tour to cities such as Zurich, Berlin, Turin, Essen, Napoli, Copenhagen, Vienna and Valletta.
Speaking about the preparations for the 2019 NFFG and NEGAs, Izoya said everything had been put in place to ensure a glitch-free event. “We are optimistic of a great event this year. The platform can only get bigger,” he said.
