African Music Business Dialogue heads to Zambia this June
The organisers of the African Music Business Dialogue (AMBD) have announced that the second edition of the trade show will be held at Mulungushi International Conference Centre in Lusaka, Zambia, on 16 and 17 June.
The inaugural AMBD, held in Accra, Ghana, last year, brought together industry experts such as Afro Nation Ghana festival boss and The Rave Group CEO Ruddy Kwakye, sound engineer and producer Kofi ‘IamBeatMenace’ Boachie-Ansah, creative entrepreneur George Nii Ofoli Yartey and veteran producer Panji Anoff, among others, to discuss revenue generation for all players in the value chain, Ghana’s growing festival culture, and the tourism opportunities connected to the local music industry.
Running under the theme, The Big Picture: Action Today; Wealthier Tomorrow, this year’s programme comprises panel discussions, workshops, a showcase, an exhibition, and networking opportunities.
The conference is aimed at spotlighting African music and professionals while facilitating progressive conversations about the future of African music.
AMBD founder Enoch ‘Trigmatic’ Nana Yaw Oduro-Agyei said the decision to move the conference to Zambia marked a step forward, demonstrating that “Africans are one people singing the same sound and must protect each other and share the sounds and culture.”
“A lot of trade has gone on in Africa but one thing that has pushed the good image of the country I believe is African music,” he added. “So why not a platform to discuss the issues that affect the business of music and share the best practices that we have learnt?”
Platinum Events and MOZO TV founder Nana Yaw Obiri Yeboah, whose companies are partners of AMBD 2023, said: “It is a privilege to co-host African Music Business Dialogue in Zambia. As Zambia’s premier and most internationally networked music content television, we are excited to welcome industry players to Zambia to experience the quality of hospitality the country represents.”
